عملت صفية المهندس بالإذاعة عام 1974، وكان صوتها هو أول صوت نسائي يسمعه المصريون في الراديو. قدمت برنامج المرأة الشهير "الى ربات البيوت".
في 1965 أصبحت المسؤولة عن برامج المرأة في الإذاعة، تولت رئاسة الإذاعة عام 1975 ، لتصبح أول سيدة تتولى هذا المنصب.
Al Mohandes worked for the Egyptian radio in 1947 and was the first female voice to be heard by Egyptians on the radio.
She presented the famous program Rabat el-Boyout (Housewives) and in 1965, she became the director of womens programs in the Egyptian radio. She became the president and chair of the Egyptian Radio Broadcasting Corporation in 1975, the first woman to hold this position.
