عزيزة حسين من رائدات العمل النسائي والتنمية. أسست جمعية تنظيم الأسرة بالقاهرة وتولت رئاستها.
في عام 2000 حصلت على جائزة الاتحاد الدولي لتنظيم الأسرة لجهودها الرائدة في هذا المجال.
وهي أول امرأة عربية ومصرية تخطب في الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة. في عام 1979 ، شاركت في كتابة ميثاق الأمم المتحدة للقضاء على جميع أشكال التمييز ضد المرأة والذي يعتبر اليوم المرجع الرئيسي لحقوق المرأة.
A pioneer in women rights advocacy and development, Aziza
Hussein founded the Cairo Family Planning Association, where she
served as president.In 2000, she received the International Planned
Parenthood Federation )IPPF( award for her pioneering work in
advocating family planning. Aziza was the first Egyptian and Arab
woman to address the General Assembly at the UN. She helped
draft the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of
Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) in 1979 – now the main
reference for women’s rights.
