هي مؤرخة موسيقية مصرية بارزة، ولها مؤلفات موسيقية عديدة. حصلت على الدكتوراه في الموسيقي من جامعة إدنبرة السكتلندية. في عام 1958 صارت سمحة الخولي أول عضو بهيئة تدريس معهد الكونسرفاتوار بالقاهرة عند افتتاحه، وشغلت منصب عميدة المعهد في عام 1972. ثم صارت رئيسة لاكاديمية الفنون بين عامي 1982 و 1985.
Renowned Egyptian musician and composer. She received her
doctorate in music from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. In
1958, she became the first musicologist on the faculty of the newly
opened Cairo Conservatoire, which she later became its dean in
1972. She also served as the President of the Academy of Arts (1982
-1985).
