In statements, Ambassador Mohamed Abdel-Hakam, the Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, Egyptian Expatriates, Immigration and Refugees, warned that illegal immigration attempts will be doomed and the persons involved will be punished according to the target countries' laws in this regard.
Abdel-Hakam demanded tougher penalties against illegal immigration brokers. He called on the people, seeking to travel abroad and who have recently fallen prey to dishonest agents, to invest their money in the projects provided by the Social Fund for Development (SFD).
The Italian authorities arrested 50 citizens who illegally entered the country on September 27. He added that the Italian authorities deported them to Egypt as part of the distinguished ties binding the two countries, adding that they will arrive here today evening.
