Ahly earns the highest FIFA World Cup hand-out in Africa

Egypt s Ahly earned the highest FIFA World Cup hand-out in Africa this year at $1,744,695, more than any other club on the continent.

FIFA on Tuesday announced it would be dispersing $209 million to clubs worldwide, to cover players who participated in this year s World Cup.

The globalfootball governing body pays clubs for every player released to participate in the tournament.

Clubs are entitled to an amount of $8,530 per day for every player released to take part in the competition. However, this sum of money does not only go to the player s current club only; it has to be shared with any other club the player has played for in the previous two years.

"I m very pleased to see that teams from so many different regions will benefit from this programme, which will help to develop football even further around the globe," FIFA President Gianni Infantino was quoted as saying.

England s Manchester City topped the FIFA list with a sum of $5 million, followed by Real Madrid ($4.81 million), Tottenham Hotspur ($4.38 million), Barcelona ($4.14 million) and Paris St Germain ($3.89 million).
