Liverpool s Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah has ended up sixth in Ballon d Or s list for the best players in the world for 2018 on Monday.
In a ceremony held in Paris on Monday, French magazine France Football revealed the ranking of the 30 players nominated for the prestigious award.
Salah is the first Egyptian player to be nominated for this award, which was established in 1956.
The 26-year-old produced a string of fine displays across the year with his Premier League side as well as Egypt s national team.
He finished as the elite Premier League s top scorer with 32 goals – a record tally in a 38-game top flight campaign.
Salah s extraordinary season also saw him win the Premier League s best player award by both the Professional Footballers Association and the Football Writers Association, along with the Premier League s Golden Boot award.
Last August, the former Roma winger came third in the UEFA best player of the year award behind Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo, before finishing in the same position in FIFA s World Player of 2018 award after a hot race with the same duo.
A panel of journalists select the winner of the Ballon d Or. The award had merged with FIFA s World Player of the Year prize from 2010/15 to create the FIFA Ballon d Or, but returned to France Football in 2016 when FIFA established The Best Awards.
