Egypt national team kick off preparations for double-encounter against Swaziland

Egypt national team will kick off on Monday their preparatory camp for the double-header against Swaziland in the 2019 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Pharaohs, who are second in Group J with three points, three behind leaders Tunisia, host Swaziland in Cairo on Friday before facing them away four days later in the fourth round of the qualifiers.

“We did all the arrangements needed to provide full concentration for the players and the technical staff,” reads a statement by the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) late on Sunday.

A week ago, Mexican coach Javier Aguirre named 15 home-based players to join the 12 overseas-based ones who were called previously for the double-encounter against Swaziland.

“The team s final training will be on Thursday at Cairo s Al-Salam Stadium; the pitch that will host Friday s match. The camp will continue after the first match as the team will fly to Swaziland on Sunday for the second match,” the statement added.

Egypt hammered Niger in Alexandria last month to give Aguirre a winning start after he replaced Argentinean boss Hector Cuper following an embarrassing World Cup campaign.

The top two in the group will qualify for next year s Nations Cup finals in Cameroon.
