انتخبت في البرلمان عام 1979 ،وخدمت به حتى عام 1984، وبعدها انضمت الى مجلس الشورى.
د. فرخندة رأست بالشراكة المجلس الاستشاري للجنة الجنس النوعي بالامم المتحدة وكذلك كانت الامين السابق للمجلس القومي للمرأة.
A geology professor, scientist, politician, and women rights activist.
She was elected to the parliament in 1979 and served to 1984. She
also served on the Second House of the Egyptian Parliament (the
Shura Council). Hassan co - chaired the Gender Advisory Board of
the United Nations commission and was the former Secretary
General of the National Council for Women.
