To Dr. Ali, I don’t think it would surprise you to know that language is an inseparable dimension of identity. You stated that the Copts should forget about the Coptic language. If nothing else, it would be a tragedy for the language of our forefathers to get lost. In case you didn’t know it, civilized nations spend millions of their national budgets to preserve and even revive their native languages. “Educated” Egyptians like you wish the language of pharaohs to disappear. In case you didn’t know it, the Arabic language was the language invaders who oppressed, brutalized, and persecuted all Egyptians. The Israelis revived the Hebrew language; the Persians and countless other nationalities preserved the language of their ancestors in spite of adopting Islam as a religion. The Coptic language is taught and researched in most respectable universities. One of our greatest shame is that not a single university in Egypt teaches the Coptic language. Why? I am sure you know the answer. Regards
